Checking In

Hi Division 2!

It has been a long time since our last adventures together! I am teaching Grades 7, 8, and 9 at a school in Edmonton, Alberta now. My new students are blogging, too! I was very proud to show them your blog and brag about all the amazing blogging fun we had all year.

Teaching in Edmonton has been a lot of fun so far, but I still miss you and think of you often. I think Albert was missing you all, too! In our new apartment, there is not a big window for Albert to look out of, and no people walk by to say hello during the day. Albert was getting very lonely. So, Andy and I went to the Humane Society in Edmonton and got a friend for Albert. Albert's new friend is named Stellar, and he is a 4-year old cat. Can you believe he lived at the pound for 4 years until we came to adopt him?! He is a beautiful cat, and so friendly. He loves to cuddle and play with Albert.

What are you up to this year? Leave a comment and let me know how you are doing!

Leave Miss. OC a comment:

What adventures have you been having this year with your new class?

What do you think of Albert's new friend, Stellar?

Have you been blogging this year? What else have you been up to?

Good-bye Division 2!

We have had some amazing adventures this year! Thank-you to everyone who has followed our blog this year and shared our learning with us. Today we enjoyed our last day of school together. First we shared our favourite memories from the year. What memories and new learning are you leaving with?

What memories will you be leaving with?

So many students had memories to share with me - I am one lucky teacher :)

After a relaxing morning of sharing stories and saying our good-byes, Division 2 enjoyed the sunny weather by heading outside for a water fight. We played capture the flags, had a water balloon toss, and played Drip, Drip, Drop. Of course, we all got really, really wet! Especially Miss. OC!

Thank-you for an amazing year, Division 2! I learned so much as we blogged and explored the world together this year, and I know you did, too. I hope everyone has a safe and adventure-filled summer. If you would like to keep in touch with me during the summer, leave a comment on our blog and I will write back! :)

Division 2 students went home today with a dvd with a Video Year Book movie on it. Don't forget to share your memory trees and our video with your family!

Take a Trip Across Canada With Us!

Division 2 has been learning about the provinces of Canada in Social Studies. We each chose a province that we wanted to learn more about, and then we did some research! We searched the internet and read many books about our province, looking for new and interesting facts to share. Researching provinces was exciting because each of us was learning about something different and we got to choose what we wanted to learn about!

We used Little Bird Tales to show what we know about our provinces. Little Bird Tales allows us to record our voices along with our story, and we learned a lot about how to speak clearly and loudly so that our words can be understood. We also learned about how to search for images online and save them to our computers. Everyone worked really hard to learn how to use this new program on our laptops!

We have created some very cool tales for you! Check out all that we learned about the provinces of Canada:

New Brunswick - Alexis

Saskatchewan - Brandon

Quebec - Brooke-Lynne

British Columbia - Christopher

Saskatchewan - Iven

Prince Edward Island - James

Quebec - Jaylee

Nova Scotia - Jevan

Yukon Territory - Jillie-Anne

Alberta - Preston

Ontario - Rain

We're First Aiders!

Today we became official First Aiders and our families were there to watch us share our learning and get our certificates. Our ceremony began with each student sharing a safety tip or emergency procedure that they remembered from our course. Then, each of our graduates received a First Aid Certificate from Miss. OC and Miss. Marshall. Finally, we did some celebrating - complete with snacks, juice, and balloons. Check out the photos from our event!

We shared some safety tips with our families.
What do you do if you get a bad burn? How do you safely warm up your hands if you have frost bite? How do you splint a broken arm? We shared our knowledge with our families so they could see what we learned during our First Aid course.

These girls showed our families how to put an unconscious person in the recovery position.
Here are some of our happy graduates, ready to help out in emergency situations at home and in our community! (Click on the photos to make them larger)

A big thank-you to all the family members who joined us to celebrate our learning today! Your excitement and applause really made us feel special. We are very proud to be First Aiders!

We had a very tiny, very special guest at our celebration!
We had some special grandparents come celebrate with us, too!
